February Newsletter 2017
Valentines dinner
Valentines dinner
Happy Valentine's Day! I hope you all had a good one. I wish I had a
little more time putting the above plate together but life with a
toddler.... It was delicious if I do say so myself, so I guess that's
what matters most.
We missed the January newsletter; sorry about that. Time got away from
us and it's been a little hectic. We have some new work to show you but
first I want to announce this year's Call for Entries. l hope all local
artists will consider entering the Schuler School of Fine Arts' 8th
annual animal art exhibition, From fur to Feathers. Below are the two
pages of the prospectus. It can be printed in its regular format, front
and back, or just print and send in the entry form with your cd or
separately if you send your images via email. You can find the full
prospectus on the Schuler School website www.schulerschool.com or by
going directly to
http://schulerschool.com/pdf/2.8.17F2F-ENTRY-FORM.pdf. Beth and I want
the biggest, most dynamic show possible so please enter and tell all of
your friends.
Here are some quick rules:
Must feature an animal as the subject (humans are technically animals
but that's not what we mean. Also, the only animal shouldn't be a
secondary thing in a background like a tiny bird in a big landscape;
the animal must be the subject)
28"x34" is the outside of the frame restriction within reason if it's
bigger
Must be original, no copies, no photos, no prints, no digital
Must be hand delivered, we don't care if you take it to us personally
or as a group or using a proxy but we don't want to store boxes,
repackage or be responsible for damages in shipping
Must be Timely, It's a tight turn around between the submission and the
works due deadlines and an even tighter time afterwards to hang the
show and get the school pretty.
Please let us know at schulerschool@gmail.com if you have any questions
about it or want us to mail out a physical copy of the prospectus to
you or anyone (We can provide a larger quantity of the prospectuses if
it's for an institution). The work must be emailed or put on a cd and
mailed to us by March 18th but if it's mostly finished and will be
finished and given to us in time (no excuses), submit it anyway.

Beth has been on a roll with the miniature animal portraits. I know I
keep saying it, but it's true and I'm proud. Here is the proof. Many of
them were given as Christmas gifts so Beth wanted to give her clients
enough time for the recipients to get them and enjoy them before
putting them on the newsletter. The top piece is another version of a
similar painting. The owner liked the first one so much she wanted
another. Beth was happy to paint beautiful Addie again.

Jaynie Spector, owner of the prestigious
Dog and Horse Gallery
in Charleston, SC has paired Beth
with a talented jeweler, Susan Burnett, to create a charm necklace.
This portrait of Tucker was commissioned so it could be placed in a
custom charm interchangeable with different necklaces by Susan.

Here are two large commissions by Beth. Well, huge by comparison to
many of her recent commissions, 7" x 5". I guess it's all relative.

Beth and I like to keep our newsletters fairly brief. Since we missed
January's newsletter, we already put in a little more stuff than usual
so I'll wait to showcase the full version of my newest painting. Here
is a little piece of it.
